FIRST MEETING!

Mark your calendars, March 4th 2010, the first meeting towards advocacy to have another skate park built in our beautiful city of Indianapolis. This started as a small group living in the downtown area and is slowly growing to the population of skateboarders and bmx riders in Indianapolis. Today we just kind of threw some ideas around but the purpose of this blog is to inform of meetings and happenings related to the park. I will try to keep it updated as much as possible. If you have stuff you think should be shared feel free to email me the links tdevlin@umail.iu.edu. Also if you feel the need to get involved PLEASE let us know. We did today loosely tack down the objectives we are trying to accomplish.

1. We are trying to push for a park of a smaller size around 5,000 to 10,000 sq ft.
2. We want the park to have quality lighting 24 hours a day to detour vandalism and ensure a place to ride all day and night.
3. We want the park to be family friendly. We want families to feel safe and encouraged to stay with their young riders.
4. With this in mind we would like to infuse the normal park objects benches, trashcans, bathrooms, etc. into skateable objects.
5. We want a CONCRETE park poured by PARK BUILDERS not sidewalk builders, no prefab.
6. We are looking to make a simple park with no wasted space.
7. We are starting a petition to show how strongly the skate park would be back in Indianapolis.

Come out to the Lake Sullivan Skatepark on APRIL 24th, 2010!

Come out bring your family, bring your friends, bring a picnic, we want to show the city that we appreciate what they have given us.
